Starting Point

As a global company offering shipping and energy solutions in more than 80 countries, Wärtsilä processes large volumes of orders and price requests daily. An initial attempt to automate and file the analysis of the documents did not deliver the expected results and proved too costly to maintain.

The goal was to find a flexible solution that could process different document structures and formats and be expanded to include new document types.

Our Approach

As a market leader in intelligent document processing, Acodis was commissioned to set up a data extraction pipeline and prepare a learning system that the employees can use and expand independently.

First, the service pipeline for automated data extraction was set up. The customised pipeline allows Wärtsilä to process 40,000 pages of orders and price requests per year.

Second, a customised user interface was created to control the extraction process and expand the pipeline with additional customers. Employees worldwide are now able to react to changes in documents instantly and add new clients with ease.
